Enjoy the stunning Japanese maples (keep your fingers crossed they hold their leaves through the weekend).  Beech trees are coming into their glory with shades of brown, gold and yellow.  The birds are singing and the hawks are out in force.

They have ordered perfect autumn weather and they will build a warm fire and serve hot drinks in the Pavilion.  Come on out and enjoy a free relaxing end to your celebration(s).

Terrific Thursdays in Decatur are not just about sweet discounts and yummy snacks in the shops and restaurants-they are also about celebrating the season and the arts!

You are invited to join us on the Marta Plaza this Thursday evening for a very cool experience that you do not want to miss!

‘Chapel Perilous’ is an intimate performance and video installation taking audiences on a wild ride of religious ecstasy and spiritual transformation. In traditional mythology, the Chapel Perilous is a place of transformation – it is a place that strips away the layers of this world to reveal the enduring cord that binds us to the divine. The Object Group invites small groups of seven into our Chapel.  ‘Chapel Perilous’ is a multifaceted performance installation combining video projections, silhouettes, and three performers manipulating resonant objects and their own bodies in striking tableau based on spiritual themes.  ‘Chapel Perilous’ lasts 15 minutes and will run continuously all night.

Meeting of the Mayors

Please join the City of Decatur and the City of Avondale Estates in celebrating the merging of our City boundaries on Saturday, November 10th at 12:00 p.m. at Lanier Park located at Sam’s Crossing.  The recent annexation of property along E. College Avenue allowed, for the first time, the boundaries of the City of Avondale Estates and the City of Decatur to meet. The annexation gives both the City of Avondale Estates and the City of Decatur control over the redevelopment of these areas, which are gateways to both cities. The City of Avondale Estates and the City of Decatur are partners in creating  successful, sustainable communities.

Refreshments from local Avondale Estates and Decatur merchants will be provided.

All are welcome to attend
